Where are you, Scobby do?

There's been some shit happening and no one is commenting!!! What gives??? Besides last night's cliff-hanger I have a question.
If Horace and Michelle (from 24) really had baby Ethan? Claire abducting/Charlie hanging/Baby snatching Ethan??... Then Ethan somehow survives the purge? Because now he is an itty bitty Dharma-inite, and later he is a creepy, always in the shadows other? What does this mean?? Any thoughts?

It may be the same Ethan, but I don't think it's such a stretch to believe he survived the purge. Ben survived the purge. He could have had cohorts, including a few Dharmas who he recruited to help him pull off the purge.

I think the larger question is: can they change history? If it's the same Ethan, then that means that the ho-stiles were never going to kill Horace's wife, even if the Losties never showed up to save her. But didn't it look like they were all set to kill her? My friend's theory -- which I'm calling The Shining Theory -- is that the Losties had always been there. In other words, there are no parallel time lines. There's only one time line, and the Losties were always there to save her. I'm not so sure about this myself.

We may get a clue next week when we find out what happened to young Ben Potter. He can't be dead, lest the entire space-time contiuum collapses! I think it's more likely that he isn't dead because the Island needs him alive. The Island has healing powers (Ben shot Locke too, if you'll recall), so I'm sure little Ben is fine.

Thoughts?

OMG u guys! He shot little Ben in the <3 !!!

wawa, i hear ur thought and second the island revival trick for not keeping him dead... cuz hE iS deaD!

on the whole time-becomes-a-loop mobius theory ur friend mentioned, i've been thinking that too... it doesn't mean they were ALWAYS there, we could have caught the beginning of the loop (when the characters become trapped within the time-loop). We have supporting evidence of the insertion of the losties into the dharma's history (the photos which - to me more importantly brings up the question: WHEN AND HOW FAR INTO THE FUTURE IS SUN!?!?) and the fact that charlotte knew korean.

about changing the timeline, i think that it's possible for the alteration of the timeline is possible - Faraday (who i believe to be away involved in the construction/excavation of the swan's electromagnetic source) was lying to minimize timeline alteration... essentially, when he was speaking to hatch-Desmond to actually accomplish that (using him as a possible tool to alter the timeline since he has the special ability to 'remember' changes in the timeline (nicely pointed out by Sarah - the episode when Desmond wakes up and Penny expertly reads his fib, when he tells her he HAS to do something because he basically GOT a new memory...

anywho, that's enough from me for now... :)

Okay, I don't know about anybody else, but I didn't understand a word of that posting.

Has the show gotten too confusing to even discuss any more?

Let me try this on you -- let's say that the Losties always WERE there. And let's say that the Others decide Ben is really important BECAUSE Sayid shot him in the heart and the Island healed him! In other words, it was SAYID's fault that Ben became the Ben that he hates so much, because by shooting Ben he showed Ben's importance to the island.

Or let me try this on you: remember the underwater Oceanic 815? The "crashed" version of the Losties' flight found right off the shore of the island? Ben said Widmore put that plane down there so people wouldn't find the island. Widmore said Ben put that plane down there. What if they're BOTH wrong? What if -- in an alternate reality -- the Losties' plane DID crash and sink into the ocean? What if in one reality the plane crashed on the island (i.e., the reality we've been watching), but in the new reality they're creating now, they're going to make it so that the plane crashed into the ocean and never reached the island at all!
