What do you guys think about the theory that whenever the Losties do whatever it is they're supposed to do, they're all just sent back to their plane in 2004, and where the "flash sideways" start is where they return to? In other words, they're on the island to do something (which apparently results in the island sinking), and that causes them to go back to 2004, like the last three years or whatever never happened (in "real time" anyway). Jacob brought them there to do what he needed them to do, and when they've done it, he just thanks them and puts them back?
Overall, I didn't love the second episode. The flash-sideways are consistently weak, I think, because we don't really understand their relevance or importance, and we feel like they may not be important at all.
As far "claiming" Sayid, it looks like Jacob and the Man in Black are claiming people for their sides in this epic war between them? Jacob seeks "good" people (i.e., the Others and the people he touches) and the MIB seeks not good people (i.e., as the smoke monster, he scans people to find out if they're good or bad, and if he thinks he can infect them, then he does, like Rousseau's "sick" people). This means, though, that ironically, Jack (the scientist) is good and Locke (the faithful) is bad. Jacob touched Jack, and the smoke monster tried to infect Locke way back when (when he tried to drag him into a hole). Locke, ultimately -- and sadly -- may just be a tool for evil, whether he knows it or not. He wanted so badly to be accepted and to be important, and it looks like he may only be important as a mechanism for the MIB.

The Alternate 1985
Peoples! What did you guys think of the premiere of Lost? I'm tellin ya -- it all goes back to Back to the Future. We're just not thinking fourth dimensionally about it.
I liked the episode overall, but I'm not sure where they're going with the alt 2004 world. It sort of slowed down the narrative for me, although I liked some of it (was Desmond really there or was he a residual memory?; Jack and Locke's chat -- "nothing is irreversible" was great). The island stuff was a lot of fun. The temple people seem a little random for me, though, but I'm sure they're doing something interesting with them. Best part was Man in Black/Locke. That was some fine acting by Terry -- when he talks about the real Locke, it was really chilling!
As for what Jacob and the MIB are, I REALLY hope they're not going the BSG route (BSG SPOILER ALERT) and make them angels (one good, one bad, fighting over the future of humanity). I think they're clearly supernatural beings, but please let's not make it as simple as good and bad angels or god vs. satan!

Found: 'Lost' Petition for Disney Attraction

Spoiler alert: "Lost" may find a happy ending after all, at Disneyland.
That is, if some hardcore fans of both the happiest place on earth and the weirdest show on TV have anything to say about it. A petition for a "Lost" island attraction to replace Tom Sawyer Island has gone viral on the Web. It is making the rounds among those feeling a sense of, well, loss, at the idea that their beloved TV show will go dark as of May 2010.
So without word of a "Lost" movie in the works and looking at a grim future minus the completely engrossing world of plane crash victims stranded on a tropical island, fans' last hope is the Big Mouse. After all, Disney is the parent company to the ABC network, which airs the series. So, why not take over the sadly outdated mash-up of Tom Sawyer and Pirates of the Caribbean and imagineer something rabid obsessive lovers of "Lost" would actually appreciate?
The wishful thinkers behind the petition are making it easy for Disney: As the OC Weekly points out, the organizers even suggest components to the ride, including ruins, a smoke monster, Jacob's cabin, and a submarine ride. Clearly, a lot of thought has gone into this plea to let "Lost" live.
It's not a completely crazy idea, either. No offense to the American icon who ruled the Mississippi on a raft, but that's not even retro cool. That's just plain out of date. More puzzling, the Tom Sawyer Island is now shared with Pirate's Lair and, these Disney 2.0 types argue, the whole thing could use a refresh. Maybe Disney would be open to a social-media inspired attraction attached to one of their amazingly successful TV shows.

Damn... I mean, damn! I mean damn, for real? Did anyone rewind back and really check out her face while she was telling Dan that he should go to the island? It was a fine bit of acting. The emotion behind the smile. But damn... I mean, damn! I mean damn, for real?

Well That Answers That...
So, it looks like they were always there. You can't change anything. This is very interesting and a real departure from the Back to the Future theory of time travel. I was sort of right about the irony of it all -- that Sayid's actions would lead to Ben becoming Ben. It looks like Jack is also worthy of much blame for not helping Ben himself, which would have obviated the need to take him to the Others. So the people that hate Ben the most are to blame for creating Ben.
Except only sorta. If they can't change anything, then can they really be blamed for their actions? They are sort of predetermined at this point. There's a strange passivity to it all now.
I really liked the convo between Hurley and Miles. It's the same convo that we're all having! The show's response to Hurley's "Why doesn't Ben remember Sayid shooting him?" question was a little weak, I think. The whole "he'll lose his innocence and not remember any of this" concept feels like a real contrivance -- unless we see something next week in the Temple that will make this line make sense. (Note that they still need to explain why Rosseau didn't remember Jin. Relying on "all Koreans look alike" probably won't cut it.)
I'm excited about finding out more about the Temple! It feels like the last uncharted place on the island!

There's been some shit happening and no one is commenting!!! What gives??? Besides last night's cliff-hanger I have a question.
If Horace and Michelle (from 24) really had baby Ethan? Claire abducting/Charlie hanging/Baby snatching Ethan??... Then Ethan somehow survives the purge? Because now he is an itty bitty Dharma-inite, and later he is a creepy, always in the shadows other? What does this mean?? Any thoughts?
