I second that "holy crap!" What an odd but fun episode. Poor Jack has turned into his father and has grown a beard so he still feels like a castaway on an island. What the hell is going to happen in the next three seasons that will lead to that?
Ben is probably going to end up being right in some way -- that Naomi's people are "bad guys" in the sense that they might have nefarious intentions with the island. I'm thinking they are corporate sponsors of some sort -- maybe Penny's father (hence, Naomi had that picture of Penny and Des) and his Widmore Corp.? Or Hanso working with Widmore? Sun's father and his corp. might also be implicated. But what do they want with the island? Were they the Dharma backers who are looking to exact revenge against the Others and plunder the island's mysteries for profit?
And who was in the coffin? My first thought was Ben -- neither family or friend to Jack, but Jack's only way to get back to the island. And maybe Jack begins to respect Ben for his commitment to the island, and the fact that he really was a "good guy." But why would Ben have left the island? Perhaps booted by Naomi's people?
It might have been Locke, though. Someone was able to read some of the newspaper clipping: "The body of Jo.. [unreadable] ..antham of New York was.. [unreadable] ..[shor]tly after 4 a.m. in the.. [unreadable] of Grand Avenue. Ted.. [unreadable] ..man at The Tower.. [unreadable] ..loud noises.. [unreadable].. loft. Co.. [unreadable] ..entered the.. [unreadable] ..a beam in the.. [unreadable] ..[ac]cordin[g].. [unreadable].."
The "Jo-" might be "Johnathan Locke." But, again, why would he have left the island? And what happened that would make him so unliked by all the other Losties?
Isn't it all very sad to think they get off the island at all? It reminds us that the show will eventually end... What will we do for engaging, challenging, mystery-filled entertainment then? Cuz, you know what, "Heroes" just isn't cutting it.
Oh! And about Walt returning -- first off, why is he like 29 alluva sudden? -- since he appears to have the power to appear in two places at once, perhaps Michael and him got of the island and then found out that Widmore/Hanso/Paik were looking for the island, so Walt was trying to communicate to Locke that he should stop Jack so that the "bad guys" don't get to the island.
