Dudes! So as of tomorrow, there are exactly 6 weeks left until Lost returns (it will apparently be on Thursdays rather than Wednesdays now)!
That's the good news; the bad news is that because of the writers' strike, the season may be shortened to just 8 episodes. This is completely ridiculous - why won't those greedy execs just pay the writers already! How many more game shows and reality shows do we have to endure before we get any real TV again? I've been reduced to watching like 6 seasons of ANTM reruns on MTV because of this. You know what? If I hear the word "fierce" again I'm going to jump out a window. I'm convinced that if you put marathons of any reality show on TV, people will watch. God help me if I get roped into a Tila Tequila marathon.
But - back to more good Lost news. I've heard some good things about the new season: (1) it has a similar tone to the first season; (2) it's the "scariest" season so far; and (3) we'll see Michael and Walt again!

Just Because Your Name Sounds Like Gin...
'Lost' Actor Daniel Dae Kim Arrested
HONOLULU - Another actor on the hit TV series "Lost" was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving early Thursday by Honolulu police — the fourth actor on the ABC series to run into trouble with the law while filming in Hawaii.
Daniel Dae Kim, who plays Korean tough guy Jin-Soo Kwon, was taken into custody before 3 a.m. local time, police said. He was booked at the downtown police station and released after posting bail.
Wearing a solid-white polo shirt and shorts, Kim hid his head from cameras as he was escorted by police officers to a waiting vehicle after his release.
Other "Lost" stars facing problems with the police in Hawaii include Michelle Rodriguez and Cynthia Watros, whose characters were killed off in 2005 after they both were arrested and pleaded guilty to drunken driving.
Rodriguez, who played Ana Lucia, was sentenced to five days in jail and $357 in fines. Watros, who played Libby on the show, had her license suspended for 90 days and paid a $312 fine.
A year ago, Adewale Akinnuoye Agbaje, the actor who played "Mr. Eko," was arrested for a traffic violation, also in the early morning hours, and accused of disobeying a police officer and driving without a license. The charges were dropped, but his character also was killed off.
Five other cast members working in Hawaii have been cited for traffic violations, mostly for speeding, according to police.
Earlier this month, Rodriguez was sentenced to six months in jail in Los Angeles for failing to complete community service and alcohol monitoring as part of her probation for previous drunken driving violations. She has been ordered to report to county jail on Christmas Eve.
Rodriguez had been on three years probation after pleading no contest to hit-and-run, driving on a suspended license and drunken driving in connection with two incidents in Hollywood in 2003.
Kim, 38, was born in Busan, South Korea, but grew up in Easton, Pa., and has a masters degree from New York University.
On the show, he portrayed a chauvinistic thug who at first was overly protective of his wife, Sun, but then began to warm up to other characters on the mysterious island where "Lost" is set. Trained in classical theater, he had to learn Korean for the role and then had to learn to practice speaking English with a Korean accent as his character learned to speak English.
In addition to work on several TV series before "Lost," he had small roles in "Spider-Man 2," "The Hulk" and "Crash."

Departed "Lost" character to return this season
By Steve Gorman Thu Jul 26, 12:55 AM ET
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - The head of prime-time television programming for ABC had some big news on Wednesday for fans of the hit castaway thriller "Lost" -- Michael will be back for the show's upcoming fourth season.
Actor Harold Perrineau is rejoining the cast as reluctant father turned devoted dad Michael Dawson, who escaped the island in a boat with his son, Walt, after betraying fellow Flight 815 survivors to the mysterious group known as the Others.
Walt, played by Malcolm David Kelley, has made fleeting, unexplained appearances on the island since then, but Michael has not been seen on "Lost" since his departure at the end of the second season.
His impending return was revealed by ABC Entertainment President Steve McPherson before a gathering of TV critics in Beverly Hills. No other information about Perrineau's comeback was given.
Plans for his return were only grudgingly revealed after arm-twisting from several critics who complained when McPherson initially insisted on holding the announcement until a separate ABC event scheduled for Thursday at the Comic-Con comic books convention in San Diego.
McPherson's attempt to save the "Lost" scoop for Comic-Con reflects the growing importance of the annual trade show as a promotional platform for major TV networks and studios, which see it as a chance to generate advance online "buzz" for certain programs among the Internet-savvy crowd in attendance.
According to Daily Variety, the agenda for this year's four-day convention includes nearly 100 television-focused events, including special Fox screenings for the pilot of its new "Bionic Woman" series and a "Star Wars"-themed episode of its animated comedy "Family Guy."
The broadcast industry is tapping into a newfound overlap between the comic book fans who flock to such conventions and devotees of a new wave of sci-fi and fantasy-based TV shows inspired by the success of "Lost."
"Lost" producers announced in May that they would end the series after three more seasons, each consisting of 16 consecutive episodes, allowing the show to conclude with a decisive finale during the 2009-2010 broadcast year.
While the Emmy-winning show lost some ratings momentum last season, it remained a key part of ABC's prime-time lineup, averaging roughly 15 million viewers a week. It also ranks as one of the most recorded shows on television and is a popular draw for online streaming on ABC.com, iTunes downloads and DVDs.

Vacation Spots
Hey, ya'll. So Lydia and I are looking into possible vacation spots. Do any of you have any thoughts on Machu Picchu, Easter Island, or Portmeirion? I'm hearing good things about Machu, but no one apparently has been to Easter Island or Portmeirion.
I would appreciate any thoughts you have. If you want to suggest places, that would be great too. The theme of our trip is: History and Perspective.

AFI Top 100 Movies
Hey. AFI released their top 100 American movies of all time. These kinds of things are always ridiculous, but it can be fun to examine their choices anyhow.
For instance, Singin in the Rain is number 5! Really? Number 5? Singin in the Rain is the 5th best American movie EVER made? I like Singin in the Rain as much as the next person, but really? The fifth best ever?
I also can't fathom why Schindler's List should be at 8 (note that it's apparently a better movie than Vertigo). Or why Star Wars is better than both Psycho and 2001. Or why E.T. is better than Double Indemnity.
Of the more recent movies to make the list, note that for some reason Toy Story and Saving Private Ryan are apparently in the same ballpark with Pulp Fiction and Goodfellas.
AFI sucks.

Kate Freakified
Two things bothered me about Kate's appearance at the end.
(1) Why did they need to meet in secret in darkness out behind the airport?
(2) Why did she look oddly different? No freckles, weird makeup, possibility of cosmetic surgery?
So... what if she is still on the run?

Beautiful Men
Beautiful men are almost as endangered as black people on Lost Island! Richard and Rose need to go chill on the beach for the remainder of the series.
And Charlie better figure heavily in flashbacks/visions/black-smoke-monster manifestations from now on. Is all I'm saying.

LOVE it
I thought last night's episode was brilliant. It did so much to humanize Jack... plus I've gotten so used to feeling like every single episode is me on my knees BEGGING the producers for answers, that this huge major answer (Jack and Kate, at least, get off the island!) was really satisfying to me.
Walead, didn't you tell us that Oceanic had to close after the crash of 815? At the beginning of the episode when we first saw Beardjack, i thought, wow, what if this is in the future, after getting off the island... and then i saw the Oceanic logo on the wall of the plane and thought "well, hm, guess it's the past, because W told me that Oceanic had to close down..."
Walead and Sarah, I have to warn you in advance, me and Saffie and Tina and Juancy had an hour-plus speakerphone "WTF" conversation last night after watching, so we have already voiced our concerns and our comments will be sparse. PLUS anything smart or clever that I say was probably already said by someone else last night, and I am stealing the credit.
For example: "listen, if I'm on your plane, and it crashes, and i live on the island from hell for months, and then i get off the island, you can BET that I DON'T WANT YOUR FUCKING GOLDEN TICKET. Bitch I'm not getting on your planes! Bitch I'm probably not getting in a CAR ever again."

A Tisket, A Tasket...Who the Hell is in the Casket?
Okay, this has been the debate of the morning and part of last night. I wonder, could the casket dweller be Michael? I can't imagine why Walt wouldn't be at his funeral, but he has been busy delivering cryptic messages to the seemingly mortally wounded...or the about to be mortally wounded (Poor Shannon).
Also, Michael was always struggling with money which would account for the seedy neighborhood. He also may have no other family, because no one came to see him in the hospital when he got hit by a car. The only one that showed up was his ex who came to pay the bill.
Most importantly, he is neither friend nor family...you know, since his traitorous killing spree. Whatcha think?

Alice in Wonderland
Did anyone else notice that the logo of the Looking Glass Station is a white rabbit. Last week a young Ben followed a white rabbit into the forest. Why all the AIW imagery and what does it mean?
The Bizznitch
You know why Ben is waiting for Jack when he gets to the radio tower?
Hmm?
Because Jack got PLAYED.
Juliet: "There's this radio tower, where the signal jam is coming from..."

Seriously though, he really talks like that! I thought his lil' accent was just going with the character, but no. Ok... enough of my Sawyer talk, but one more time... he is beautiful!
As for last night's show.... I thought it was really good, but I'll be honest.. a small part of me wanted Charlie to die... because that would've been something the show never would do. YES, it's nice that we have this whole new element in the Looking Glass and the secret sharp shooters inside, and I'm sure that will be interesting(ps- don't you think they're bored in there... or claustrophobic??). Back to my original point... It just would've been nice for them to REALLY kill him off, and I like Charlie!
In terms of the preview... can the Losties EVER Win??? I mean seriously... how did Ben's men capture them? They had such a great plan! It's sooo sad. Can't wait for the TWO HOUR Season FInale.... Sawyer said it's going to be a GOOD ONE!!!

Through the Looking Glass
Listen, how much you wanna bet that the folks down in the L-G have been trapped since the sub blew up? And they're not happy about it? Because you know Ben wasn't like, let's go dive down with some food for them. It would be hot if they ended up being allies.
The Looking Glass

Yay! There's a new station. Anyone have any ideas about this one? It seems like Ben was lying about it being flooded -- why is he trying to keep the Others from going down there? Maybe to protect some Dharmas who still live? (The one chick looked an awful lot like Annie...)
And what is the purpose of the station? Is it what keeps the island hidden (hence, "mirror")? Or maybe it's how the submarine gets in and out of the island? Like it's a portal?
Saffie, I too was excited to see sassy Rose return. This was actually her first appearance in Season 3 -- that's how long it's been since we've seen her no-nonsense self. While I'm glad to see her, I'm worried that now that she has resurfaced, her death is that much more imminent. She survives a plane crash, beats cancer, and now she's going to end up dying by falling off the radio tower or something.
ROSE!!!!
That's where you've been...off gettin' your hair did!! I like how they tried to sneak her in the episode (complete with Bernard and new hair twists) as if she had never left. At long LOST Rose's redebut, I yelled her name as if my mom had just appeared on screen. Can we have a moment of celebration at the fact that Rose has returned with just as much, if not more, sass as when she left?
Hmm, sass, Juancy loves the word sass.

The Prisoner
Hey, have any of you seen the British show "The Prisoner"? It is clearly an inspiration for "Lost." "The Prisoner" is about a British secret agent who one day gets gassed, and when he wakes up he's in "the village," this small town surrounded by forests and mountains. The townspeople are all sort of weird and unhelpful. Everyone is known by a number and the everyday leader is "Number 2." The "prisoner" is named "Number 6" and while he's trying to escape the village, he's also trying to figure out who "Number 1" is (he's only referred to, but not seen until the last episode). Despite Number 6's attempts to leave the village, he keeps being re-captured and brought back by a security system in the form of a large white balloon that comes up from the surrounding waters and chases him down (it is known as "rover"). In many ways "rover" is similar to the black smoke on "Lost." Number 6 is also prevented from leaving through occasional gasings and the use of drugs. It was quite a cult show from the 70s.
Also, if the above sounds familiar, it might be because the Simpsons did a parody of it in which the Simpson family gets gassed and sent to the same resort-like village where a white balloon chases them.

Heads Up
Hey! Non-TIVO owners! ABC is airing a Lost special on Thurs, May 17th at 10 PM.
It's that time again. In anticipation of the Lost season finale, a special called Lost: The Answers is scheduled to air twice this month. The special will be similar to Lost: Survivor Guide, a clip show that aired before the winter premiere. Executive producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse will co-host the show, which will "recap the secrets that have been revealed, as well as those that remain unanswered."
Among the topics that will be covered: the father of Sun's baby, what caused the Oceanic 815 crash, what happened to DHARMA, why polar bears are on the island, how Locke ended up in a wheelchair, and the identity of the real Sawyer.

Jacob

There he is.
Incidentally, anyone else notice that Roger's Dharma uniform had the Swan on it? I don't recall what Ben's uniform had on it.
I like the fact that Season 2 was all about Dharma and we all assumed it was the key to the show, when it kinah turns out they appear to be just a group of socialist hippies who got in over their heads. I think we'll see that the real mysteries of the island and the real key to the show are the natives. Do they not age? If not, then why don't they realize that Ben is aging?
Patricide
Kudos to Juancy for spotting the patricide theme running through the show... Locke having to kill his dad, Ben killing his dad, Jack killing his dad... who am i missing?
Richard's ever-youthful Armenian good looks are my real concern here. WTF?
Also... How the hell did The Others go from being the hostile savages living in the woods (richard looked pretty grungy when he met kid-Ben) and killing off the well-funded fancypants Dharmaites so they could squat in their houses... to being the cozy, book-club-having, muffin-baking, massive-global-operation-with-cameramen-and-operatives-all-over-the-world outfit we know and love? Some of that is probably just the shit they stole when they moved in (the submarine, the electricity generators...) but come on, modern ultrasound equipment? Evil buses in the real world that can kill at will?

"The Life Extension Project can be described as the grand summation of all of the Foundation's work from prevention and wellness to the development of new gene therapies and the development of young minds is nothing less than the extension of life itself. Parapsychology is one of the fields studied by the DHARMA Initiative (as stated in the Swan Orientation Film).
Parapsychology is the study of the evidence of mental awareness or influence of external objects without interaction from known physical means. Most objects of study fall within the realm of "mind-to-mind" influence (such as extra-sensory perception, folie a deux and telepathy), "mind-to-environment" influence (such as psychokinesis and remote viewing) and "environment-to-mind" (such as hauntings and near death experiences). Collectively, these abilities are often referred to as "psionics".
The scientific validity of parapsychology research is a matter of frequent dispute and criticism, and is generally referred to as a pseudoscience, refuted by numerous rigorous scientific studies (unlike psychology, which is a recognized field of conventional science).

Say WHA!?
Oh boy. Only Lost would have the balls to hype up the reveal of perhaps the most important character on the island, only to present to us an empty chair. There was no funnier scene than Ben talking to an empty chair and Locke looking at Ben as though he had lost his freaking mind. Locke looked at Ben like he wanted to say "I'm sorry, psycho says what?"
And boy, it was such a great "Psycho" moment (only with Jacob as a father rather than mother figure). It was such a fun episode, and so outrageous, in a good way.
But back to what the hell is going on. You woulda thought Ben really had lost his mind, except I think for a split second there actually was a shot of someone in the chair when Locke started using the flashlight? Can anyone confirm this? I'm going to check my DVR when I get home. Also, someone was clearly using telepathy or something to shake the room around.
My humble thoughts: assuming Jacob is real, I think Ben's got him imprisoned in there. When I first saw the gray stuff surrounding the house that Locke picks up, I thought it was gun powder, but now I'm thinking it might be some sort of ritualistic fence keeping Jacob from leaving the area. This makes sense with his "help me" to Locke. It seems like he's some kind of spirit that Ben has tied to a chair. I think his conversation with Jacob was made up -- not that Jacob wasn't speaking, but I think Ben was making up what he was saying (why would Jacob be mad that Ben brought Locke if he wanted Locke to help him?). I think that's all part of the show so that Ben can tell people that Jacob is an angry person that controls them all -- when, in truth, Ben IS the man behind the curtain because he actually controls Jacob.
Two episodes left! With the finale being a 2-hr Jack-centric episode called "Through the Looking Glass." There's a clip show in between the last two, but after a series of great episodes, I can't be too mad at them for taking a week break.

Big-ups!
These big-ups are overdue but I'd like to big up Saffie for commenting "Now for the show...They can't be dead! If they were, how did Rosario Dawson get there?" cuz on the real that chick looks like Rosario Dawson and I almost spit out my coffee at work
And the best subject line award goes to Sam for "Snitches and Tricky Bitches", which has lead me to call the girls at work tricky bitches anytime, anything goes down. This will probably get me fired but damn it if it isn't' amusing.

My Big Question
Here's my big question from last night. Why the hell would Kate tell Jack about the helicopter lady? That doesn't make any sense to me. Did she just want to rub it in his face that his friends don't trust him anymore? She seemed too sincere and concerned for it to be like that. On the other hand, even if she trusts Jack, she damn sure doesn't trust Heifer Juliet, so why would she under any circumstances let her find out? You know that bitch is gonna tell the Others SOME kindaway! If it was me, and i was all "Jack i need to talk to you alone" and he was all "anything you can say to me you can say to her" i would have been "okay bye then nevermind."

I knew it!!
Come'on we all knew Anthony Cooper was the real Sawyer. And we all knew that Locke didn't have Ben down there.
She ain't just purty, she's smart too...
I invite Tina to start off this week's LOST discussion. Ah yes, and Tina, I fully expect the first line to be, "I KNEW IT!!"
As far as tonight's show is concerned:
Oh yeah...shit's about to go down.

Naveen
For all yall who didn't see it, Naveen Andrews is in GRINDHOUSE. He has no beard, and it makes his face look fat. Sayid looks all lean and mean and dangerous; No-Beard Naveen is a pudgy lady. I just bring this up in case any of you were wondering why i haven't shaved in three years. I have a Sayid face.
Snitches and tricky bitches
I know, i know, Sam always brings it back to the Holocaust, but listen: at the Nuremberg trials, all those tricky bitches said "I resisted in my heart," or "I never really agreed with it, but i had to do what i had to do." But bitch you *did* do it! You think the lady you're pushing into an oven feels better because you're "resisting in your heart"?!?
I bring this up because we're all, "oh, Juliet hates Ben, she doesn't want to do it," as if that makes her shit less ill. Whatever it is going to be.
I gave Sun credit for more sense than to go with Juliet in the middle of the night when no one knows. Where's the logic in that, from Sun's perspective?
Good episode, all in all.

Now, for the real...
Why is it that Jin is the only mofo that doesn't speak English, yet he is the only one who seems to always know what's going down. What's that Jin? What's that you're trying to say? The others are coming? No, no it couldn't be that. I can't quite understand you. Uhp, too late we've already been caught. I'm sorry, what was that Jin? That one-eyed Russian mofo took the phone and you're desperately trying to get it back? No, no it's best if we chase you yelling hollow reassurances. Why are people teaching Jin English if no one wants to listen to him? Hmm?
Now for the show...They can't be dead! If they were, how did Rosario Dawson get there? Do they want us to believe that the Others are the only ones alive? Or that the Losties are straddling dimensions? Or that they're all chilling up on zombie island? That wasn't tranquilizer in that orange juice, girl! Oh please, this isn't FOX! If they were all dead, then what's at stake? This shit is a writer trick I tell you! Pish posh, I say!
Are we all loving Sun's quiet, demure, kick your assedness, because I am. Sun said it may be okay with everyone else that you're washing your clothes...but I'll cut a bitch! Okay, maybe that's not a direct quote. But damn, it's getting so a chick can't launder her delicates without getting harrassed. I love that Kate is not the only tough chick on the block. (No one really believed spoiled, screechy Claire was going to be the next tough chick did they? Oh Sam, look what your hateration has taught me.) For quite some time, the only tough women on the show were Kate and the Others.
Raised eyebrow award to Desmond for pointing out that the Losties have killed more Others than vice versa.
Okay, I'm going to need help with a couple of things. First and foremost, why is foaming at the mouth, bleeding from the ears Mikhail not dead? Does that mean Ms. Klugh is not dead either? Tina seems to think that putting blood packets in one's ears and an exploding foam pack in one's mouth is preparedness on Mikhail's part, but a squib and a blood pack is just this side of ludicrous when Ms. Klugh does it. Guess it's not just the island that has some
thing against black people. Okay, back to the questions. Why did Sun not follow Juliette back into the hatch? Why didn't Sun push Jin's hooker mom into the bay? And most important, where the hell is Rose?!

ridiculous
Kate: "Glad to be back in your own bed?"
Jack, if Jack had any sense: "Bitch I had a piano! I had windows! I didn't have to spend an hour a day getting sand out of things! Why the hell haven't we moved into the village?!?"
Jack, if Jack had any sense: "Bitch I had a piano! I had windows! I didn't have to spend an hour a day getting sand out of things! Why the hell haven't we moved into the village?!?"
Brothah
I am also really enjoying the way this show explores what it means to be part of a community. Again and again we see different models of small social groups whose members depend upon one another (The Losties, the Others, Desmond's monastery, etc... you can even look at Jack's "invasion" of a Thai village or Locke's life on the marijuana commune) but who have different strategies for order and structure and survival. The Lost Beach is mostly comfortable anarchy, with no need of rules and law because everyone respects one another and the ill shit between people can be settled between them; and they only need a "Leader" in times of crisis (when they first got to the island, when figuring out how to respond to threats from outside... you notice that even though Hurley was grooming Sawyer for the throne, they seemed to be doing FINE without Jack). The Others, on the Other hand, live in an extremely structured network with its own laws, tribunals, sheriffs, and an autocratic and exceedingly nasty leader, Ben (and possibly someone even shadier and more powerful, Jacob). The monastery episode reveals Desmond's major failing: he is unable to abide by the rules and be a productive constructive loving part of any community (even a community of two, as we saw with Penny and now with Ruth, and "the Family" is the smallest and most intimate form of community). His stupid "Calling" is everybody's calling, except not everybody has so much trouble with it: finding a place in the universe and loving the people who share that place.
I don't know what that all means, either within the show (is that what Lost Island boils down to for all the Losties: a purgatory they all need to pass through in order to be purged of their own failure to truly live in honest and open and respectful communities? (Sun & Jin, Jack and his wife and his father, Sawyer and Charlie and Locke and Ecko... all these folks got problems being upfront with the ones who love them)) or outside the show, from a cultural perspective (is it a way to comment on how Americans--and really residents of any modern industrialized society--no longer believe themselves to be a part of a community in the same way, with responsibilities to their neighbors and the capacity to solve their own problems, etc? is it about post-9/11 anxiety about how "our community" is threatened, and what is wrong with "our community" that brings those threats in the first place? who knows!). But I am enjoying it.

Desmond Tutu, you ain't...
Oh crap, I can't stand how good this show is!! It leaves me sitting at the dining room table--all tense, hunched, and wide-eyed! This show will be the death of me. Don't you understand that I can't take the pressure of it all?! That being said, Lost has neatly positioned itself as one of the best shows on television (or at the very least the one with the most posturely-challenged fans).
Lost has started to be about how far one would go given desperate circumstances, and I love it. I must have said "Desmond, really? C'mon Desmond, really?!?" a million times. Without knowing if it will really make a difference, can you really sacrifice someone else's life? Mmmmmmmmm, maybe. Yeah, I didn't comment about Juliette last week, but you do what you gotta do when stuck on a not so deserted island with its own monster for three years. Juliette doesn't know those people. Ok, maybe you don't shoot people Michael style, but you certainly betray them to get home. Get your plane ticket on, girl. Work your guilt out later.
Oh yeah, the other thing Lost seems to be all about is giving us tidbits when there are meals to be had. There is a four-toed statue to be explained and all we get is why Desmond says "brother" all the time. I just thought it was a Scottish thing.
Did anyone catch the photo Desmond's silver haired medium sitting on the monk's desk? Do you think that she/they set Desmond up? I mean, honestly, one moment he's perfectly coherent (or, you know, close) and then he is lying in the street speaking to a monk. He stays at the monastery for months only to get fired and leave the very day Penny, rich ass Penny (Hey, did she say "My name is Canelope."?), comes there on a beer run? You make 108 (interesting number) cases of wine and you don't have a deal worked out with the local post office? Do the ridiculously rich customarily go on trips to lug boxes of wine from the local monastery? I think Cruella had a plan for Desmond, and I think it was to save the world.

Tryna get Kate Pregnant?
So do you think that the others made it conducive for Sawyer and Kate to have sex, so that Kate could get pregnant? They knew she could get out of the cage and did nothing. And they put Sawyer's life at stake, making her feelings for him more intense. Your thoughts?
Would I be considered one of the "bad ones"
I thought it was a great episode, finally they are answering some questions.
I don't think Juliette is either good or bad. The girl is doing what the girl has got to do. I gotta tell you, when push comes to shove, I'm taking care of me and family. I’m sorry, actually no I’m not. I knew that Juliette was not "left behind" from the whole fence thing, but the question is how far back have they been setting it up? Was the whole I wanna kill Ben thing fake and to gain Jack's trust? Or was she just pissed that Ben won't let her off the island? I mean that whole thing where they were gonna kill her cuz she killed that Danny guy, smelled of set up to me. Jack loves to be a savior and they let him do what he does loves, while making them a team. Also, is the branding protection from the smoke monster?
The question is (as Walead said) what's Ben's endgame. What does he gain from having her there? Is she there to monitor Claire? Sun (if so, how do they know she's preggers? This realization came at the island, so if they know about Sun, then there's a mole or a bug or something in the camp). Maybe they just need more women to impregnate. Maybe they just need to keep an eye on the Losties cuz they are pesky mofos.
I want to know more about Juliette. There's a big leap from the bubbly, nice lady that she was in the flash backs and the cut throat lady she is now. She bitched Sayid and Sawyer without hesitation and the "Let's have it" comment was ballsy especially since she knows what Sayid is capable of. She also shot Danny (was that his name?) without hesitation, I think these actions are a far cry from the nervous girl we saw drinking OJ. And of course, the ninja skills, Juancy. I want to know what else she did on those 3 years on the island. I want to know what Ben has to offer Julliette that still makes her do what he says. She wants off the island, can he still make that happen? And if there is no communication then he can't really threaten the sister. What's motivating her?
Also, how do they know about the man that Sawyer killed? All the other info could be found, medical records and research etc. But that happened the day before they left and supposedly only Sawyer knows. How’d Patchy find out? (I was writing this when Sam’s posting came in. Good eye, Sam, good eye)
AND ANOTHER THING! They should always believe Sawyer and Sayid when they think peeps are shady. Game recognizes game! Sayid knew from the get that Ben was lying about not being an other. So much so that even with evidence to the contrary, he dug up a grave! He dug up a fucking grave and got out a license, that’s a man that follows a hunch. He also knew that Michael was up to no good. And Sawyer! When Michael, Walt and Jin where all smiles and waves on the raft, that sexy mofo had his hand on his gun. Why? cuz Game recognizes game! Shade recognizes shade. No wonder Jack is so easily duped. He needs to start doing some question asking. First he didn’t ask what Kate did, now Juliette. Come’on Jack! You are a doctor! Ask for the history! It’s fucking important.
I found the Sawyer/Kate moment precious! I gotta give him big-ups on the acting skills. He said nothing but I saw it all in his face. He wanted to go to her but tried to hold back and pretend, finally he broke! Damn, I lust that man! I’d be in trouble on that island cuz even knowing the pregnancy kills, I’d have sex with him and possibly die.
And last but not least, did Hurely kinda threaten Juliette? The last one of you who came and f’ed with us is buried over there. Just so ya know...

Evil is the New Good
Hey peoples... SORRY but i had a meeting downtown this morning where Marco and I dazzled a bunch of service providers and got them excited about organizing and advocacy...
Otherwise i would have had extensive postings already. I found it was a fun creepy episode, altho I wanted to see Sayid and Juliette get *into* it a lil more. And I really can't wait to see what Jack's ill shit is. What he's up to.
On a side note, did the cops or any authorities KNOW about Sawyer killing that dude before getting on the plane (i just don't remember from the backstory)? If not, the Others must have REALLY good off-island investigative capabilities...
Juancy also brought up the possibility that the Island might impose strict guidelines on what the Others can and can't do (can't just raid the camp and slaughter everybody), and the smoke monster is ONE OF the ways that behavior is punished, so Ben has to be manipulative and get "good people" to do the bad things. Michael, Juliette, etc.
As a semi-non-sequiter, is it possible to imagine someone who ISN'T a good person? I mean, even the most evil destructive motherfucker imaginable must be okay with his/her conscience, like George Bush must think that the good things he attains by his evil actions must outweigh their negative consequences, or, as in the case of psychopaths, they must feel like they're acting in ways they can't control... To quote the talented Mr. Ripley:
"Well, whatever you do, however terrible, however hurtful, it all makes sense, doesn't it, in your head? No one thinks they're a bad person."

Thoughts!?!?!?
Where's the peeps at?
I thought for sure SOMEONE Else would've been the first to post something!
Anyway.... really good episode... I knew that bitch was bad!! What a sneaky lil' thing... she almost had me going, but I knew better!! Does anyone think she's playing Ben, or is she really JUST THAT BAD???? Also... did anyone else hear Ben say... the chip has been implanted, and she'll start feeling symptoms in 48 hours? If that's what he said... wouldn't that mean someone on the island is bad and implanted said chip?? Or did I hear him wrong?

revisiting Cassidy and Sawyer
this is a recap of the flashbacks from season 2 (form tv.com). Note that while we see the flashbacks here, Sawyer was pinning Jack against Locke to get control of the guns. I feel it's worth to note that Sawyer betrayed someone he was in love with for his own self-interest:
The Long Con
In FLASHBACK we see Sawyer in a now familiar scene. He's in bed with a beautiful woman when he has to rush out to make a meeting. He grabs his briefcase and -- oops! -- thick bundles of cash "accidentally" fall to the floor. Only this time, his mark is on to him. But there's a surprise. Cassidy doesn't call the cops -- she doesn't even storm out of the room. Instead she wants him to teach her everything he knows.

In FLASHBACK we see Sawyer grooming his new pupil in the art of the con. Cassidy's a very bright pupil. But she's hungry for more. She wants to learn the long con. And she knows how they can fund it. Cassidy got more money than we thought in her divorce. A whole lot more: $600 grand.
In FLASHBACK we see Sawyer meet up with his old mentor, Gordie. They meet at the diner where Kate's mother is a waitress. He's been playing Cassidy like a fiddle, knowing the whole time there was more money in her. But when Sawyer says he's having second thoughts Gordie makes the decision real easy for him. Finish the job or, die. Turns out everybody works for someone…
Sawyer: (Cassidy just told him she has 600 grand) Well hell baby,
with that kind of money let's just sit out on some beach and drink
mojitos 'til we go toes up.
Cassidy: Sawyer, for the first time in my life I'm actually happy.
Come on, one long con? Then the mojitos.

Hope for Sawyer
Agreed, hermanita! I did like the way that once Hurley tricked him into being nice ("lamest con ever!"), he had this moment of clarity at the end where he realized that he does like these people, even if it's in his nature to be an asshole, and that the really scary thing about being banished was not that he would have to catch and clean his own fish, but that he does need them and get something from them.
I will be disappointed if Juliette turns out to be a mole for Ben. I think something shady is going on with her, but i hope it's not that simple. Actually, I want Jack to be the mole, and not because i don't like him, but because that would be more interesting storytelling (remember, Walt's dad got turned into a mole against his will) after spending a little time with the Others.

Don't Trust Juliette!(or whatever her name is)
I'm here!!
I do love Sawyer... how sweet was he with Claire and the baby? I would love to see a throw down with him and Jack, can't wait to see how that one works out!! Of course...my money is on scrappy Sawyer! Also, how smart is Hurley? Don't you just love him too!?!?!
As for the rest of last night's episode... Juliette DEFINITELY knew about the monster, b/c she said to Kate "ok- we know about it, we've known about it for 3 years... and we don't know why it doesn't like the fence." I don't trust her ONE Little bit... I think she was just lying there, pretending to be asleep, when she and kate were handcuffed to each other. How else would she have known the PRECISE Momemt to wake up and grab Kate's hand? There is no way the Others would've "left her behind". I think she is way too valuable to them, and it's all part of Ben's "master plan."
Locke probably just wants to be included/loved/a part of something, and that's why he's going with the Others. If history is any indication of what will happen.... I have a feeling HE will be the one who is left behind.
Did I mention how great I thought Sawyer was?? I knew he had niceness in him!!!!!

Left Behind
What'd you guys think? I thought it was another good episode. Lots of questions, though. Is the "Left Behind" title a reference to the book of the same name about the people who remained after the rapture? What happened to Locke (anyone else notice that his hand was bandaged)? Whatever it is the Others are doing, they've seemed to convince Locke that it's what he should be doing as well.
Has Juliet never seen the Monster because it's a security system run by Ben against newcomers to the island? But now that Juliet has been banished, it looks like she's fair game (was it taking pictures of her?).
One last question -- why were they going back to the beach? You'd think they'd send one or two of them back to get the rest of the Losties and they'd just all move into Otherville. They'd have a shield protecting them against the Monster, they'd have beds, refrigerators, etc.
Thoughts?

What the hell is a Caduceus, anyway?
A caduceus (/kəˈduːsiəs/, -ʃəs, -ˈdjuː-; kerykeion in Greek) is a winged staff with two snakes wrapped around it. It was an ancient astrological symbol of commerce and is associated with the Greek god Hermes, the messenger for the gods, conductor of the dead and protector of merchants and thieves. It was originally a herald's staff, sometimes with wings, with two white ribbons attached. The ribbons eventually evolved into snakes.
In the seventh century, the caduceus came to be associated with a precursor of medicine, based on the Hermetic astrological principles of using the planets and stars to heal the sick.
God bless you, Wikipedia.

video strip discovery!
Hi everyone!
So, i found this cool little google/youtube thingy that lets me put seach words that cycle 4 clips at a time! i typed in Dharma : Hanso : Flight 815 : smoke monster.
it basically is a perpetual search that matches those words. there's a few cool little things to catch. the strip is at the bottom right of the page and show video at the top of the page. if you hit refresh it goes to another word result...
any suggestions as to what else i should give a seach for it to cycle thru? click 'comment' to suggest!

Sarah's Dream
I just couldn't pass up the chance to post this! :)
Oh my god- and I totally forgot to mention that i had a dream last night that *I* was on Lost island!!! Me and Locke were like BFFs!!!! I can't remember exactly what happened, but I think Locke, Sayeed(or however you spell it) and I were fixing a bus.
Not sure where it was going to take us, but we were excited to fix it! It was like a Trailways bus or one of those Charter busses. Also, i think that we were ALL with the Others, and were getting along pretty well. Then- the Others made us walk to this really big house with a ton of rooms... and we were told that we all had to "procreate." Every girl had to pick a guy to have a baby with... and I think had to keep trying until they finally got pregnant!! I was really nervous that I was going to get stuck with an ugly person... but he wasn't. He also wasn't one of the people on the show.... just some random guy.
And we didn't get a chance to procreate, because I woke up. It was REAL Weird!!!!

Walead and Sarah, all you need to accept the invite is a google account (if you need an invite from gmail, let me know).
We also (if so inclined) can invite readers to just read (and not author like us): lemme know someone's email that may be interested in reading our stuff. I think they'd need a google account too.Anywho, I thougt this would be a fun little thing instead of barraging each other with e-mails!
